P.S. Can't stop listening to Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros...if you haven't heard it yet, "Brother" is a seriously awesome tune.

summertime...

With the best summer festivities just around the corner for July 4th I can't help but daydream of the delicious warm weather treats I'd be enjoying if I were in America.
Luckily my new favorite Thai dessert, mango and sticky rice, can keep me very good company while everyone at home munches on sweet watermelon and hot dogs on the beach.

A Little Princess

Remember this film?
My sisters and I used to watch it on long car rides when going to visit relatives.
I love the cinematography and the costumes.
I'd love to watch it again sometime soon.

foot fetish.

My obsession with photographing hands and feet is weird but not so weird that I won't keep doing it. For years I've compulsively taken pictures of my feet wherever I went, and I just recently got even more obsessed with photographing hands.
Specifically, strangers hands.
But anyway, this obsession is even more surprising to me because I don't even have nice feet. Some people are blessed with shapely, delicate, beautiful feet and toes, but I'm not one of them.
Maybe I'm trying to make a statement about those of us less fortunate in the foot department?...

Above are some of my first foot photographs.
Does it make me weirder that I want to make a collage of all of them?

lovely lights.

Life's not fair.

Dominique

My sister Dominique has always been my idol. Actually, all three of my sisters are the people I admire the most in the world, but since she is the one closest in age to myself and the older between us, it was a constant battle of jealousy versus love during my childhood. Atleast for me. Everything she owned, I wanted. Every band she listened to or movie she watched, I cursed myself for not recognizing how cool it was first. I have a vivid memory of crying myself to sleep several nights during one summer growing up because she had a pair of Adidas sandals that I was so in love with and would never get to wear. Haha. Not much has changed since we were 12 and 13, and I still find myself wondering if I will ever catch up to her effortless ability to be well-dressed, well-liked, charismatic, beautiful, driven, passionate......probably not.

This week she sent me some photos of her newest project- DIY tee-shirts cut and redesigned to be cuter versions of the old thing.

In a word: brilliant.

good stuff.

lovin' mood.

self-centerdness.

Just have to share this because it is a tiny personal triumph for me...ran 7 miles tonight and didn't even break a sweat! (haha, kidding, I was dripping wet, but I felt like a million bucks). Yeah yeah yeah...I know to most that's like, nothing. In fact, that isn't a big deal to most of my family members since they are all super athletic and run marathons for fun on weekends, but I have been trying to push past my daily 30 minute run routine for a while now and this afternoon I was suddenly in the mood for a jog. I didn't realize how far I was going to go!
Sorry for patting myself on the back publicly. Yes I'm bragging, I just can't help it!
Also, it's my blog...so I'm allowed.

:)

p.s. And no, and I didn't run in my Converse - I just love that photo.

Read This.

Several news stories from around the web caught my attention today so I thought I'd share. Controversial and critically important right now, they all piqued my interest in different ways.

one of a kind.

night:life

Thursday night in Bangkok.
My curtains are open to the city skyline while heat lightning breaks up the blackness beyond the buildings. Its startlingly beautiful.
Camped out on the couch writing a short story and periodically dipping into my newest novel while listening to some tunes.
Wherever you are, I hope you're as content and inspired as I am.
